Split case pump definition

Split-case pumps are, by-design, a more-balanced machine than most other types of pumps. Coupled with robust bearings and a maintenance-friendly casing design, split-case pumps are the design-of-choice for many municipalities and industrial facilities. A split-case pump is one where there’s a top and bottom half of the pump with the impeller between the shaft bearing on each end. We call it a between-the-bearings pump.

Your standard end-suction pump is called an overhang, or overhung impeller, because the bearings are to one side of the pump supporting the impeller, which is inside the casing.

Horizontal split-case (HSC) pumps are used in most industries around the world to move large quantities of fairly clean fluids—usually water—at low to medium pressures. HSC design geometry poses numerous advantages and disadvantages for users. Split case centrifugal pumps for low viscosity fluids.

Essentially, the pump casing is split into two separate chambers, hence the name split casing or double suction centrifugal pump. The axially split design allows easy removal of the top casing and access to the pump components (bearings, wear rings, impeller, and shaft seal) without disturbing the motor or pipe work. DPAS pumps are double suction, horizontal split case pumps.

Since the upper cover of the pump is removable, all internal components can be easily replaced without disassembling the pump from the piping.

Stuffing box is cooled with water. Seals are easily dismountable, which makes replacing and fitting up additional seals easy. What is a horizontal split case pump?

A type of centrifugal pump, in which the casing is split into two separate chambers. It’s different from an end suction pump or inline pump , in which the casing, the suction nozzle, and the discharge nozzle are all included in a single chamber. Horizontal, axially split case pump (BB1) The HSC pump is a horizontal, single stage, double volute, axially split case centrifugal pump designed and built according to the Hydraulic Institute (HI) standard (BBtype). When looking at pump from suction flange regardless of pump rotation Factory Recommended Spare Parts CAT.

The casing is split axially, with opposing suction and discharge flanges, greatly simplifying maintenance. In the water sector, ANDRITZ split case pumps operate in water treatment and water supply systems as well as in irrigation, flood control, and desalination.

They can also be used as circulation water or cooling water pumps for power stations, industrial plants and district heating networks. It is sometimes overhung or placed between bearing design. When it comes to making a choice between horizontal and vertical inline centrifugal pump , convenience is one factor that you need to keep in mind. Also, LR Type horizontal split - case pumps are designed to ensure ease of maintenance and parts interchangeability.

This means additional savings from reduced downtime and minimum need for parts inventory. The heart of the split - case line in the LR, single- stage, double-suction impeller design.

The Grundfos HS horizontal split case pump is a single-stage, non-self-priming, between bearing, centrifugal volute pump. Read all instructions in this manual before operating pump. Every industry has its own vocabulary, and the pump industry is no exception. There are a number of terms every salesperson, engineer, end-user, and maintenance manager who deals with pumps needs to understand. The types of centrifugal pumps used are sand pumps , submersible slurry pumps , shear pumps , and charging pumps.

Centrifugal pumps for solids control. They are defined for their different functions, but their working principle is the same.
