The specific purpose of a solenoid valve is expressed by its circuit function.
A solenoid valve has two main parts: the solenoid and the valve. A direct acting valve has only a small flow circuit, shown within section E of this diagram (this section is mentioned below as a pilot valve ). The operation is facilitated by an electro magnet. It converts electrical energy directly into linear mechanical motion.
The outlet port is eventually connected to the process where the fluid is required. The solenoid valve controls the flow of the fluid from inlet port to the outlet port. The body of the solenoid coil is cylindrical in shape, and it is hollow from inside.
They ensure wear-free movement of the plunger, and provide leakage of transmission fluid (which is under pressure).
The seal material may be metallic or rubber, and must be chemically compatible with the transmission fluid. Solenoid valve seals are located at the plunger end. They are being used to an increasing degree in the most varied types of plants and equipment. The variety of different designs which are available enables a valve to be selected to specifically suit the application in question.
This is an extremely important process in the automation of fluid and gas control, and there are different types of solenoid valves that does the same job in different ways. Directional control valves are used in pneumatic systems to direct or stop the flow of compressed air or oil to their appliances. The primary purpose of a solenoid valve in a refrigerant liquid line is to prevent flow into the evaporator during the off cycle. On multiple systems, a solenoid valve may be used in each liquid line leading to the individual evaporators. Thus energizing causes a change of position of the rod which causes a change of position of the valve.
These valves are not capable of modulating action. The EGR solenoid is controlled by the engine computer, and activated at very specific times in order to achieve the best performance, efficiency, and emissions from the engine. This changes the rotation of the camshaft to adjust valve timing and valve overlap on the go. The EGR solenoid is one of the main components of the EGR system, and any problems with it can cause the system to not function , which can be a major problem in states with strict emissions regulations.
Usually, solenoid valves are used whenever flow of media has to be controlled automatically. The circuit diagram for a tank filling operation is shown in figure. The basic function of the normally open solenoid valve is the same. A normally open solenoid valve controls the flow of gas or liquid.
This valve differs in the way that the flow is started or stopped.
Example: Power to coil Cylinder extends, power to coil cylinder retracts, power off cylinder stays put even in mid position. Way or port solenoid valves refer to the line connections in that there are ports which makes them ideal for diverting flow from one path to another. Unlike way valves that are intended for isolation purposes, way valves are used for directional control and have function variants – normally closed (NC),. It also refers to any device that converts electrical energy to mechanical energy using a solenoid.
The device creates a magnetic field from electric current and uses the magnetic field to create linear motion. The arrangement of the hydraulic systems is similar to the pneumatic systems. In hydraulic systems the fluid used is liqui which is called as the hydraulic fluid.
When the engine is off, the purge valve is closed. Usually a problem with the EGR control solenoid will produce a few symptoms that can alert the driver of a potential problem that should be serviced.
