A Crane Lift Plan is required for every crane lift on a Dimeo project – see OSHA Subpart CC for definition of crane. Critical crane lifts , if authorize may have to be reviewed by a professional engineer (the contractor shall budget for the PE review) – see page section of the Crane Lift Plan for a list of critical lifts. When do you need a lift plan?

Pre-Lift Review A pre-lift meeting involving the participating personnel (i.e. crane operator, lift supervisor, rigger) should be conducted prior to making a critical lift.

The person assigned to create the lifting plan should make arrangements to visit the site to gain all the information needed to ensure the lift can be made from a specific location and that ground conditions are suitable for supporting the weight of a crane and the materials to be lifted. Crane Considerations Yes No Are the lifts within the crane ’s rated capacities? Show how the lifting device attaches to the crane including slings or other hardware used. Calculate the total weight of the load (item plus all rigging gear) and enter on the sketch or photo. Ensure that it does not exceed the rating of the crane.


This lifting plan sample also provides calculation for sling tension.

Additionally you shall be able to select the suitable lifting gear in accordance with the safe working load and weather conditions etc.
