Pipe size is specified with two non-dimensional numbers: a nominal pipe size (NPS) for inside diameter based on inches, and a schedule (Sched. or Sch.) for wall thickness.

Get more information on pipe sizes and tolerances. Data given in based on the NPS Tables given by ANSI B36. M and includes Pipe wall thickness, outside diameter, nominal diameter. Nominal refers to pipe in non-specific terms and identifies the diameter of the hole with a non-dimensional number (for example – 2-inch nominal steel pipe consists of many varieties of steel pipe with the only criterion being a 75-inch (6 mm) outside diameter).

Nominal Pipe Size (NPS) is a North American set of standard sizes for pipes used for high or low pressures and temperatures. Understanding Pipe Schedule Terminology. While the Nominal Pipe Size identifies the outside diameter of the pipe , more information is needed to identify specific pipes.

Pipes in a variety of materials - including carbon steel, steel alloys, as well as some plastics - are manufactured in these standard sizes.

Standard Pipe Schedules Pipe Sizes Chart Table Data. At that time pipes are available in only three sizes standard weight (STD), extra-strong (XS), and double extra-strong (XXS), based on the iron pipe size (IPS) system. Warning: All pipe plugs must be blocked or anchored adequately against a force equal to the head pressure times the cross-sectional area of the pipe. Debris or protrusions in the pipeline can damage a seal or rupture inflatable plugs. For full table with Length vs.

Charts include: Pipe Size to Pipe Schedule Chart , Paddle Blind Hydrotest Thickness Chart, BWG Tube Gauge Chart, and more! Use our ANSI Pipe Chart to determine the nominal pipe size , wall thickness, weight and schedule designations. For easy reference, print out this up-to-date chart. Nominal pipe size refers to only the outside diameter (OD) of a pipe making it somewhat vague.

These dimensions are nominal – substantial tolerances apply – refer to Atlas TechNote and the standards for details. Stainless steel pipe nominal dimensions based on ASTM A312M and ASME B36. Carbon steel pipe nominal dimensions based on ASTM A106M and ASME B36.

After washing the pipe is dipped in the solution of Zinc Chloride and ammonia Chloride to give a Base metal for Better pickup of Zinc on steel surface. The pipes are dipped in a molten zinc Bath at a temperature of 450o C to get the proper adherent Coating.
