Type of water pollution

Well, that topic can be divided up in different ways. Contamination from farming might be a manageable sized topic. Nitrate and phosphorus are the big items. Here are a few types of water pollution: 1. Nutrients Pollution Some wastewater, fertilizers and sewage contain high levels of nutrients.

If they end up in water bodies, they encourage algae and weed growth in the water.

This will make the water undrinkable, and even clog filters. Most types of water pollution only affect the immediate area but sometimes the pollution can travel hundreds or thousands of miles and then it is called transboundary pollution. Surface Water Pollution.

Types of Water Pollution. Water – the source of life – is one of the most essential and precious resources, our planet has been blessed with. Covering over of the planet’s surface , water, is needed for the survival and thriving of the environment as well as the people.

When the source of water pollution is a single point, for example an oil spill , it is called point-source water pollution. The Ground Water Pollution : Among all the types of water pollution out there, this one is quite common. Radiation from nuclear waste is trans-boundary pollution.

This type of water pollution is usually the most complex to remediate. Microbiological water pollution is usually a natural form of water pollution caused by microorganisms. Many types of microorganisms live in water and cause fish, land animals and humans to become ill. When certain substances are present in water beyond their normal limit then the water is term as polluted. This dearth of oxygen, known as eutrophication , suffocates plants and animals and can create “ dead zones ,”.

It includes contamination by pollutants such as chemical, bacterial or particulate that reduces the purity of the water. Water pollution is the contamination of the water on Earth. Oil seepage as well as littering is one of the most common forms of pollution. It refers to the pollution of water resources found above the ground like rivers, lakes and streams.

These sources are polluted by the rainwater runoff that transports pollutants to the water. The contaminants can end up in the water by the direct or indirect application. What is water pollution ? It is the second most prevalent type of environmental pollution , after air pollution.

A subset of surface water pollution is marine pollution. This is a major problem that affects both animals and people, and it should be taken seriously because the damage it can cause could be irreversible. When the algae die, the levels of oxygen decrease, and aquatic animals die.

There are various types of water pollution. As the name suggests, “Water Pollution” is the type of pollution that involves the contamination of various water bodies. Various aquatic creatures depend on these water bodies and its natural nutritious features to support its life.

When sewage gets into the drinking water supply, serious stomach and digestive issues may result, including the spread of diseases such as typhoid or dysentery. A third source of water pollution is trash. Improperly disposed of items, such as plastic bags, fishing line,. It occurs when foreign harmful materials like chemicals, waste matter, or contaminated substances are directly or indirectly discharged into water bodies.

Some large visible items polluting water may be termed as ‘floatables’ which include shipwrecks, marine debris and trash (paper, plastic and food waste). Biological pollutants include pathogens like bacteria, viruses, protozoa, algae and worms. Another common type of air pollution is dangerous gases, such as sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides and chemical vapors.

These can take part in further chemical reactions once they are in the atmosphere, creating acid rain and smog. Other sources of air pollution can come from within buildings,.
