Bearing types pdf

A bearing is a machine element which supports another moving machine element (known as journal). It permits a relative motion between the contact surfaces of the members, while carrying the load. A little consideration will show that due to the relative motion between the contact surfaces,. The bearings with which we are concerned fit two basic categories – ball and roller. We will discuss both categories, and cover bearing types , installation, operating conditions, maintenance and troubleshooting.

In addition, we will feature one particular type – the tapered roller bearing – which has numerous fleet applications.

Note 1: The raceway of thrust bearing is called raceway washer, the inner ring is called the shaft raceway washer and the outer ring is called the housing raceway washer. Rolling elements classify in two types : balls and rollers. Rollers come in four types : cylindrical, needle, tapere and spherical. Depending upon applications described above, bearing can be divided into following types , the differences between types of bearings concern load type and ability to handle weight.

In addition, depending on the type of rolling elements, they are classified into ball bearings or roller bearings , and they are further segregated by differences in their design or specific purpose. The most common bearing types and nomenclature of bearing parts are shown in Fig. This movement is either rotary (shaft rotating within a mount) or linear (one surface moving along another). Linear bearing types range from ball bearing cages—essentially bare cages holding balls that are often used as die-post bushings—to recirculating ball designs where the balls roll linearly along the shaft and then return to their starting points through channels on the non-shaft sides of the bearings.

Type of loading (stationary or rotating) Type of loading refers to the direction of the load relative to the bearing ring being con- sidered Essentially there are three different conditions: rotating loa stationary load and direction of load indeterminate ee Table 1).

LYC is capable of designing the types of radial bearing and thrust bearings according to properties and directions of their subjected loa the detail types are given in the following. These basic designations are defi ned in the German DIN 6standard and the relevant ISO standard. For most bearing types, the basic designation is made up of numbers, but some are alphanumeric. Gurney also developed duplex bearings —a matched pair of counterbored bearings —which were a major contribution to the accuracy of high speed machine tool spindles. Most types of radial bearings can also take thrust loads.

Radial bearing mainly take radial loads. Thrust bearings generally take thrust loads only and not radial loads. Lubricant is used for slow moving and heavy weighted running on shaft. These bearings to support crack shaft, rocker arm of IC engine.

Ball bearings , as shown below, are probably the most common type of bearing. They are found in everything from inline skates to hard drives. Hunan Jintai Hardware and Machinery Co.

Ltd is a professional manufacturer on various kind of bearings in China for over years. Bearings Built for Speed. Calculate equivalent load on Conrad- type ball bearings and relationship of this load to expected lifetime of the bearing. Airframe bearing, rod end type, with male threaded shank. Cylindrical roller bearing, two flanges on outer ring, one flange on inner ring, with side plate.

Single-row, counterbored outer ring, radial type bearing, with shield on counterbored side, 15˚ contact angle.

However, the span restriction for sliding bearing utilization can be disregarded when it is used in combination with other bearing types. For p max less than allowable soil bearing capacity, no uplift is expected at the left end of the footing, and the center of gravity of the triangular bearing stress distribution coincides with the point of action of loa P. Lets attempt to break it down.
