Electromagnetic force

The electromagnetic force is one of the four known fundamental forces. The other fundamental forces are: The other fundamental forces are: the weak nuclear force , which binds to all known particles in the Standard Model , and causes certain forms of radioactive decay. The EMF holds electrons in their orbit around the nucleus.

What does electromagnetic mean? These electrons interact with other electrons to form electron bonds among elements and produce molecules an eventually, visible matter.

The force arising from the attractions and repulsions associated with electric and magnetic fields. Understanding how it works gives you an appreciation of everything from the electricity powering your screen to the light transmitting these words to your eyes. Along with gravity, it is the force that humans encounter most on an everyday basis, and it explains most of the phenomena with which people are familiar.

It has the ability to attract and repel charges. Since material in solid and liquid forms are made of charges having a unique order, they, too, may be manipulated by this force. In fact, the forces of electric attraction and repulsion of electric charges are so dominant over the other three fundamental forces that they can be considered to be negligible as determiners of atomic and molecular structure.

In physics (specifically in electromagnetism) the Lorentz force (or electromagnetic force ) is the combination of electric and magnetic force on a point charge due to electromagnetic fields.

The fundamental force associated with electric and magnetic fields. Electromagnetism, science of charge and of the forces and fields associated with charge. It was not until the 19th century that they were finally treated as interrelated phenomena. It include the electric force , which produces electric fields between charged forces, and the magnetic force , which manifests itself as magnetic fields wherever there are moving charges. One of the most powerful forces in the universe, electromagnetic forces are forces exerted between charged particles.

A fundamental force in nature, the electromagnetic force acts between charged particles and is the combination of all electrical and magnetic forces. It has infinite range, although its strength is inversely proportional to the inverse square of the distance (that is, doubling the distance between two charged particles decreases the force between them by a factor of four). The direction of magnetic flux produced by a permanent magnet is always from N-pole to S-pole. When a conductor is placed in a magnetic field and current flows in the conductor, the magnetic field and the current interact each other to produce force. Most are very apparent in everyday life.

It is responsible for defining how electrons are organised in atoms. Atoms are mainly empty space. The joining together of magnetic and electric forces on a charged item is called the Lorentz force.

Objects with opposite charges produces an attractive force between them, while objects with the same charge produce a repulsive force. As electrons and protons fly around bumping into each other in a light source, the electromagnetic force produces photons of all wavelengths across the electromagnetic spectrum.

Slow, randomly moving charged particles create radio, infrare optical and ultraviolet photons with wavelengths, respectively, from meters to microns to thousands of. It is the basic reason electrons bound to the nucleus and responsible for the complete structure of the nucleus. Quantum electrodynamics (QED) was the first quantum field theory to be discovered. QED describes the electromagnetic fiel which is related to the electromagnetic force , the force that conveys electric charge. All charged particles, including protons and electrons, interact via the electromagnetic force.

As is known, matter consists of elementary charged constituents electron and protons. Electric charge is, therefore, said to be quantized. As electromagnetic force is so much stronger than the gravitational force,.

They construct explanations based on observable patterns and develop models that define the cause-and-effect relationships of the forces and interactions they are measuring. The magnetic force acts between moving charged particles. Analyze your electromagnet to determine its dimensions and the amount of current you will be running through it.
